Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named head of the congressional reporters. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips with the president Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
